Summary
Uganda struggles with persistently high school dropout rates, with over 40% of pupils dropping out before completing primary school. This issue disproportionately affects girls in rural areas due to pervasive poverty, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and inadequate access to essential needs like sanitary facilities. These barriers limit opportunities for young women and perpetuate a cycle of poverty and inequality.

In the community 6 out of 10 girls dropout of school in primary level, and 4 out of 6 dropouts are exposed to child marriage. This is because of poverty from their parents, and so they’re married off for bride price and, others face lack of essential needs like sanitary towels, clothes, food . Child marriage has effectively rob off girl’s child hood curtail their education. Therefore lack of education and economic opportunities, her family is likely to face poverty cycle.
Solution
Together with community leaders , parents will learn positive outcomes of girl child schooling through training, community awareness dialogues. Will engage community leaders and traditional leaders authorities to promote the value of education and discourage early marriages. Equip girl’s parents with income generating knowledge and skills , provide them with financial capital according to their work skills that is to say farmers with seeds, poultry for every vulnerable girl’s family
Long-Term Impact
This project will prevent school dropouts and early marriage for at least 1500girls, assist community leaders and local councils to emphasize the protection of girls and bring back hope to the victim ones , allocate resources, vocational skills and economic opportunities to girls at risk and to the married girls. Empowered and educated girl are one who can make informed decisions, self-reliance and educate their children, preventing future dropouts and eradicate poverty rates in our community.

Ambassadors of Hope: Equipping Kirimwa’s Survivors to Fight Sexual Abuse and HIV Stigma
During a recent discovery in Kirimwa Village, we identified that some girls who experienced sexual abuse have also contracted HIV/AIDS. These survivors face a dual burden: managing a chronic health condition while recovering from profound trauma. In response, our intervention will provide not only immediate support—including psychosocial counseling, antiretroviral therapy access, and case management—but also a sustainable empowerment pathway.
We propose equipping these resilient young women to become community ambassadors in the fight against sexual violence and HIV transmission. Through targeted training in peer education, rights awareness, and advocacy, each ambassador will learn to lead prevention dialogues, reduce stigma, and guide at-risk girls toward safe reporting and healthcare services. Their lived experience, paired with structured mentorship, positions them as credible and powerful voices within Kirimwa and surrounding villages.
Ambassadors will participate in village outreach sessions, school clubs, and women’s groups, sharing age-appropriate prevention messages and facilitating referrals for testing, post-exposure prophylaxis, and legal aid. This peer-led model amplifies trust and reach, ensuring that vulnerable girls receive timely information and compassionate support from someone who truly understands their journey.
By investing in these survivors as leaders, we transform tragedy into collective protection. We urgently call upon government health departments, child protection agencies, and philanthropic partners to fund training modules, mentorship stipends, and ongoing medical and psychosocial care. Together, we can build a survivor-centered safety net—one where no girl endures abuse in silence, and where those who have suffered become the architects of a safer, more informed community.
